Mike, my microsoft paint program that came free with my computer leaves a lot to be desired.  Those are supposed to be three seperate statements.  Surface roots  with arrow pointing to them........  Worm channels with arrows pointing to them........ and finally residue which keeps ground cool.  Just some physical characteristics that might distiguish a living soil from dirt used as a growing medium.



 Tim, thanks for clearing that up. Keep posting what you are finding out, i find it interesting and educational.
