I got a tank of 75/25 by mistake one time and it will not work with TIG on aliumiunm, didn't try it on steel. You need argon and I think you can also use helium, but I don't know anyone doing so. That is where the Heliarc name got started. Yes you will need a foot pedal. There are torches with the control on them, but most all welders make out with just the foot pedal although it can be a real bear to work it in a tight hard to get to space. If you plan to do aliumiun, get a welder with frequency control, it will do a much better job. TIG takes a good while to learn, but once you get it, it makes the best welds going and is by far the best for aliumiunm.
