If you're using a single jacket rubber hose there's no need to dry it. It's rubber... If you're using a double jacket hose that has a fabric outer jacket... it needs to be dried or it will rot/mildew. Both types are still quite actively in service although I much prefer single jacket Angus for ease of cleanup...
