The 4020 I converted that does not have a loader I put the batteries out front with plastic boat boxes to keep our of weather before I converted to 12 volt. I had a Raven 400 spray controller and it did not have a battery or memory that would keep when the power was disconnected. With new batteries flat long batteries that JD designed to use in those tractors every time I started the tractor I had to reprogram the Raven. So I put the boxes out front and put much larger cranking amp batteries in and it stopped the problem of reprogramming the Raven every time I started the tractor. It also made it start a lot better. It will start with out either or being plugged in down to 5 or 10 degrees Fahrenheit. The 4020 I have a loader on has started every time I wanted it even down into the -0 range with out either and it does not have a heater.
I try to put in batteries that are at least 1000 Cold Cranking Amps and they really turn over good.
