NC KS | Both of our boys claimed themselves on federal income taxes for the last 2 years. The Fafsa still looks at our income.
There is a series of questions that the Fasfa asks. If those are answered truthfully about where you live and if your parents are around, etc, they will still look at the parent's income. My wife has questioned this a lot because there are kids that get pell grants when themselves or their parents would not flinch when writing a check for full education. Somehow they get by but the system is tightening up by actually looking up your and your parents 1040. | |
