Iowa | I just had a son graduate from ISU in December. We used $45,000 out of his college fund for 4 years. Only one semester in the dorms- it's terribly expensive, and kids waste a lot of the food $$ by eating somewhere else. Jam 4 or 5 kids into an apartment and have them work for spending money and it won't cost anywhere near $20,700 at ISU- my figures are as recent as last semester.
That son says he's the only one of his friends who doesn't have a student loan holding him back. Their parents have new cars, our car has 185,000 miles on it. It's a matter of family priorities; we put our children's education above our wants.
Please break down the $20,700 a year if you would. | |
