Hay takes so much out of the land, think about all the organic material being taken away every time you bale. Thousands of pounds of organic (free fertilizer, best too) I say you'll just have to spend some extra money and be ahead of the game by fertilizing this year and maybe spraying and working it so weeds/grass won't be such an issue next year. my two cents
