Near-north Ontario, French River | I'd plan on a split app of N, and put the rest down as called for. N is going to be your major cost, put half down ahead of the planter and wait to see what the weather/stand looks like. If everything looks good then put the balance of the N on as side dress, if it turns dry you can always chop the N rate to cut some costs. FWIW that's a fairly typical fertility program up here, with similar yield goals, but we generally don't have a major concern with the type of drought/heat conditions that seem to be typical for the deep south. |
