I don't know how much you should reduce population, as we don't really know what you consider 'normal', but more important would be the importance of using a bushy type bean plant as the 7000 will be on 30" rows vs the 7.5-10" of the GP.

Last year I blocked off the rows on my drill to drill on 30" rows.

I'm basically wondering *if* he has his 7000 planter setup properly to plant soybeans, how much better germination can I expect over a drill? 10% 20% 30%?

Last year I planted a theoretical 10 seeds per foot and wound up with a final average of 6 plants per foot. Some of those plants were taken out by the rotary hoe, but not 4 in 10 that's for sure. Maybe 4 in 100 were lost to the hoe.
