I personally dont trust myself to do it. The vet I use probably on average checks a few hundred cows a week year round. Does he make mistakes? Yes he probably does but alot fewer than I would. I am always short handed working cattle and dont like alot of strangers around that dont know how to handle cattle so its nice to have the vet there helping. My vet charges $50 for the farm call and $60 an hour while he here and to me I could never risk it for that kind of money.
