Coldwater, Michigan | One of the problems I have with George's numbers is that the chance of having exactly the same numbers for the same amount pounds of ortho vs poly is slim and none! I ran hundreds of replicated plots over a 13 year period of time. The chances of 3 replications of the same product giving identical results in a plot were almost non existent. If you used a poly vs an ortho in that plot ( 2 treatments) and replicated them the chances would be even more slim of being exactly the same. It looks to me like someone had a theory and came up with the numbers.
In all of my replicated plots, ortho vs ortho/poly vs poly never seemed to be the big determining factor as far as final performance. Total make up of the product had more to do with it than did Ortho vs Poly.
Ortho's are highly pure, however PURITY is not a sign of final yield. Give me a good Ortho/poly with the right NPK make up, and a good micro package and I will put most Ortho products to bed.
