NW IL, Mercer County | Playing with split applied N, like a lot of other have said. We are backing off on our fall NH3 rates, and making up the difference with pre-emerge & post applications of 28% and Super U. Splitting your single application into 2 or 3 will cost you more, but spoon feeding your crop is going to give you the best opportunity to increase your average yields. Make sure to use stabilizers and inhibitors that apply to the proper N source/application method to keep your nitrogen in the soil where it belongs, not the atmosphere or ground water.
Nobody sells all of their grain on one day of the year hoping they hit the market high. Why should we treat our nitrogen the same way? | |
