Jefferson, SD | No question I would go for the max gpm. Last summer when it was 100 and the subsoil was powder dry I struggled to keep up in corn with 950gpm. I realize this isn't a normal situation however the 50-75bu/acre I gained x $7 corn paid for many years worth of slightly lower operating costs I would have achieved with lower gpm's.
At some point that pivot is going to get stuck or break down and you will lose a couple days when your crop really needs moisture. Having the ability to move faster to catch up will reduce the impact. | |
