It's all about what the market wants...plain and simple. If more grain is needed, there will be a rise in premium until more people grow that IP product.

I will have a field of non-gmo corn this year that will be completely segregated, but it will most likely just go to town. There are markets somewhat closeby, but their delivery and pricing timeframes leave a lot to be desired. I'm not in a position to hold grain not priced until the following July after harvest. I could sell on the futures and roll each month, but it's hard doing that never knowing what the premium or delivery month they want it in.

Non-GMO soybeans are a much easier process here. The premium and delivery times are known before planting. There are definitely fewer new varieties, but they seem to be OK.

So in general, the demand needs to grow first, then the market will compensate and fix all of the small things I mentioned above.

1,3,4,5 are non issues in my mind.
