Jackson County, AL | Grandpa always said that a verbal land contract was the only verbal contract that would hold up in court, though I have my doubts these days. He would be 100 this year. I would contact the broker, the FDIC, the local district attorney if necessary, but I'd call the new owner back first. Explain that you have already made plans for this parcel and have gone far enough that you feel you have the right to raise a crop on it this year. If he won't do that, then kindly ask for your inputs back. If that gets you nowhere, then decide whether or not you want to go through other channels. Easier said than done, but the best thing you might do is to stay friendly to the guy until you feel forced to get ugly. | |
