NE IA | Sounds like you've got it planned out pretty well. You didn't state cattle type so I'll assume cows. drawback on cows is it is hard to limit consumption to a consistant daily allowance unless you are going to have enough bunk space. I've done it on silage piles at remote locations with the wire at about 5/8 of cattle height on 1" X 8' fiberglass rods driven into the silage. I don't think a dry hay pile would work for that as it probably would not hold the pole secure enough. Try to incorporate some elasticity into it as cattle will get shoved into the fence and you want it to recover and still be standing. It works best here in NE IOWA when things are frozen and not muddy. It a little outside the box but can work well. Good luck. | |
