Subject: RE: Value of the US Dollar

Lapel, In
If I remember right, the Continental was a faith based currency. Pretty much the same as today. There is nothing but faith in the dollar today other than what we as a citizenry hold in common. ---i.e. roads, bridges, parks, buildings, some natural resources, some gold & other precious metals, defence equipment, etc.
Unfortunately, the service economy creates no wealth. It simply pushes currency from one hand to another and does nothing to help our dire straights that we are in. Helicopter Ben, the president or congress can do but very little than to apply a bandaid to the problem, See this article for what the powers that be are thinking as a solution:

The real, but long term solution involves rebuilding the manufacturing section of the Unites States. The wealth creating machinery, so to speak. That and making the buying of American goods popular again. It will be a lot more easy to accomplish ,the weaker the dollar becomes. So there is some real opportunity ahead for American business ,IF we can survive this explosion of greed that caused most all of our problems.

Once you get by the sensationalism ofthis article it contains some good insight on our situation:
