sw mb.
We bed as needed. This is a low input small herd. Loose housing is storm shelter only, no bedding. No grain and cows eat snow. Our cows are clean, dry and not taggy. Our yard is well sheltered by trees with lots of fresh clean snow. But blow a bale or two on the bedding pack and within minutes cows are lying down in fresh straw. Believe me if I didn't think it was worth it I wouldn't do it. Our girls work hard for us and it's the least we can do. Even with our small herd, if I had to do it without a bale processor I'd get out of cattle.
