| Winter barley is grown very successfully just to your south in KY, would think it would be fine in your area, will harvest a little ahead of srw, some varieties have better test weights and kernel size and feed value for sure. Fertility will not differ much more than winter wheat, barley straw is better feed than wheat straw, 100 bu per acre + yields very achievable with winter barley. Probably a little less tolerant of wet heavy ground than wheat is.... and also more sensitive to low pH than wheat | |
