Subject: RE: Cereal Rye

Dalton, OH
I have raised rye seed for 3 seasons now. I've been averaging about 60-65 bu/ac and 2-3 tons per acre on straw. I sell the straw and its better than wheat straw. It's not fun to combine but I just use our flex head and put it on the ground and go slow. I sell some grain to neighbor's for their cover crops and use quite a bit of it myself. As far as drying, it's usually dry when we harvest but put it in a bin with aeration and have no issues.
