Rye shatters easily and most cut it with a swather because of that. Also sprouts easy if the swaths get rained on. Is ergot a concern? Seems for us there is times it can have some ergot in it. No bad experience but the feed mill says ergot is serious if fed to cattle in unsafe levels.
