SE South Dakota | Loran with your 12 tow and BT chopper knives what ground speed are you running?
I now run an 8 row JD head with JD knife rolls and want the stalks chopped better. We run 4-5+ on ground speed and I fear that on the high end of this range the Calmer BT choppers might not do the job of chopping that I want. Esp after a little wear on the stalk rolls.
I've considered a 12 row for that reason, to slow down and chop the stalks better.
One nieghbor here has a 12 row stalkmaster and I've watched him go thru the fields, a slow pace. But his stalks are ground up very well. I wonder if 5+ mph if the stalks would be chopped up to the same extent?
