Southern Middle Tennessee | Anybody on here have a Brittany Spaniel? I've always thought they were a great looking dog. How are they as a pet? Are they good with kids? Currently have a chocolate lab that is one of the best dogs I've ever owned. NOt sure how they stack up to a lab. |

Your moms house | Look at a Springer Spaniel. We have had 2 and they both have been excellent all around dog's. |

Columbia Falls, Maine ( Downeast Maine) | We had Britts for many years. Ours were great with the kids. Not aggresiveat all but they did watch the kids when a stranger was near them. They need plenty of room to run and run untill there about 3 years old.
I always liked the liver and white ones with a blockey nose ( like a lab)
Good luck |

NE Illinois | Grew up with brittanys great dogs but shedding is bad if you keep them in the house, good hunters if we had any pheasants around. |

ND | I've had a few Britts. My current dog just turned 2 years old and I'd say she's the most high strung one I've had yet. They love to run and like lots of attention. Every Britt I've been around has been great with kids, but they do have a protective nature when strange people come to the house. Someone else mentioned it, but they do shed and the white hair shows up more. Grooming helps alot with this. A lab will be a much bigger dog and tougher in cold weather, however I like the smaller size of the Brittany and they eat less. |

Minnesota | We've had several Brittanies over the years and they are wonderful dogs; I agree with the others wrote about their Britts. They love their people, love to be loved and make great house dogs. |

N.E. MO | My Brittany is 8, and is one of, if not the best dog I've ever owned. She is far and away the best bird dog I've ever had, and one of the best I've ever hunted behind. That comes from instinct and breeding, apparently, because I'm far from being a good trainer. Maybe I just lucked out and got a good one. She has a great temperament, unless you're another female dog. Friend of mine has her sister out of the same litter. They hunt together very well, but things can get a bit interesting when we get back to the truck! I probably need to get a pup started with her, as I don't know how many good years she has left in her. She also loves to ride in the truck with me and hang out at the welding shop. I'll probably never have another one as good as Dixie.

West Central Illinois | Your post brought back memories of my Brit, Hunter. Best dog I ever had. Great house dog, super with the kids smart and loyal. Not to mention a keen nose. I was fortunate enough to spend 7 great years with him. One time he was stolen and I thought we lost him forever, and he managed to work his way back. He looked like death warmed over.He was gone for 2 weeks. There was a rash of dogs taken that fall around here. I will never forget the day he came back. He was liver and white with a huge chest. My vet always said he looked regal. Sorry for going on and on. He was a huge part of our lives. You won't regret a Brit |

N.E. MO | As a side note, Dixie was stolen last winter. Six weeks went by. Got a phone call from a super nice lady in American Falls, ID who was the animal control officer. That is 130 some-odd miles from my shop where she was taken. Said she had been around town eating garbage, etc for about three weeks and looked too thin to tranquilize, so she spent three hours coaxing her to come to her. Still had her tag on with our phone number, so I'm guessing she got away from the culprits before they had a chance to remove it. The lady took a liking to her and took her home to fatten up, rather than to the pound where she worked. She refused payment of any sort. I guess there are still some good folks out there, and I sure was happy to make the drive to get Dixie back. |

| We have a Springer Spaniel and she has been great. Sleeps in front of the door all her life. Only barks at cars driving in that she doesn't know.
I never knew that woodchucks could climb trees until I saw it this summer. She was over 10 yrs old in this picture and was standing guard for over 4 hrs when I snapped the picture.
