Jackson County, AL | With most does having twins each year and with research showing that over 50% of the fawns are does, the math says you have to kill at least half the population each year to stay even. That's impossible even shooting at night during the summer and hunting all winter. A doe killed is generally 3 beaneaters removed for the next summer. We enjoy hunting during the season but its work going out every night May-August. We kill several but it just helps us control some of the population and makes us feel a little better. Thinking of getting a night scope and permit for a suppressor for next year. We get a lot of backlash for the summer hunting, especially since you're required to leave them laying. God has a plan though, I've killed deer at 10 P.M. and there's nothing but hide and bones by 7 the next morning. | |
