West Central Alberta Coldest, wettest edge
We are overrun with deer, it's not unusual to see 30 or more in one place. The worst are the Mule deer, the authorities put mule deer on a draw to protect them. Same with moose. A farmer can't hunt them as pests, the fines are atrocious, I think first degree murder has less punishment. I just went out to the garage to get something, a deer ran out right in front of me. I've invited every hunter I've met. No excuse not to succeed, except that few have tags for Mule deer, and the white tails aren't as brave.
