SD/ND/FL | I inherited 400 and I've purchased about 450 over the last 2 and a half years. I represent about 45% of my tenants acres. I think we work pretty well together and even though I'm more work than the average landlord, I try to pull my weight as well. Given our talk of potentially pushing the corn next year, I went out bought a better dryer for his setup. He doesn't pay me anything for it, we just put in place a simple buy sell agreement for it.
I'm not stupid, I know he would much rather cash rent my acres at the county avg of about $80/acre but I really enjoy the hands on aspect of our arrangement so that wouldn't "float my boat"
As far as my background, I started a small mfg business in Mpls and sold it 4 years ago and I now work as a consultant for 6 businesses in the upper Midwest.
