As a survivor of many Saskatchewan winters I will say first thing, forget about gloves. As already stated the fingers will be a lot warmer if they can share the warmth by being all together. Gloves just separate them and provide no benefit to me at all. I wear double mitts. Leather outers with some good wool or wool like substance liners inside. It might seem clumsy but you get used to it and its a lot better than trying to work with fingers that have lost all feelings and joints that refuse to bend in the cold. Been there and done that.
