Possibly the signature is only the intials of the person who wrote the letter or at least edited it to include your information on it. In previous places I have worked the secretaries would type up letters and then sign their initials after the signature. I believe they did that to indicate that they were just typing the letter and not the person who actually dictated the letter to them.
