Here in north central ks I plant beans in 30" down on the good bottom ground where they get taller and are prone to lodging. But on the upland ground which would be similar to what you describe you having, I prefer 15". Over the years I've tried 30", 7.5". but decided I liked 15" the best. The advantage of wider rows is you can save a little on seed cost by being able to plant thinner. The narrow row advantage is it canopies quicker. But bottom line, on ground like you describe, I think the yield difference is slight if at all. I've never noticed it although I've never run side by side tests in the same field.
