WY, OK | Lot of people don't realize how big bulls get, we sold around 5 this year and the skinny and lame BCS of around 4.5 was still over 1500 lbs, our mature herfys push 2400 easily and they never get any special food. This all after coming out of the cows so they weigh several hundred more in the spring. 1 raggedy 8 yr old red angus weighed 2200. All were in the mid to high .90's The Red Angus was bought for probably a few hundred more then we sold him for, great return when you figure the 150+ calves we got out of him. He bred 35 cows each of the last 2 years by himself. Right now slaughter bulls are bringing a lot better return than slaughter cows are. | |
