Eastern Iowa | Getting old is part of living, just like going to school or bearing children. We take what comes and we deal with it. My dad comes from a huge family (16 kids) and his oldest sister passed away and was buried on Monday. My wife and I were talking about how having that many aunts and uncles was neat growing up, with dozens of cousins and all sorts of family things to see and do. Watching the family, most now old and gray, at the cemetery on Monday I realized that there is a flip side to that coin. We're going to celebrate many lives in this way in the coming years. | |
