I've done that several times, throw 1500 lbs of tractor wieghts in the back of the 3/4 ton, jack, spare, enough tools and grease gun to pack a bearing if needed and hit the road.

If you only do one thing, put the wieghts in the truck. Especially if it has a harrow, the tail can wagg the dog real fast if you don't have some wieght on the truck.
