What are you looking to do. Cancun has hotels with 1-2 restaurants and 2-3 bars and close to lots of other night life. Great beaches. south of Cancun (Riviera Maya, and such) Hotels Can sit on 40-80 acres and have 8-10 restaurants and that many bars and are more of a destanation than a hotel. Great beaches at some resorts. Less night life but way more laid back. Pacific side has nice hotels but the beach is not a white sand type. Cold water does not lend itself to dips in the ocean. Can have a great time anywhere but depends on your taste. Have stayed at several resorts but Excellence Riviera Cancun is are favorite. Not the newest or the fanciest but VERY nice and a very good value. Secrets Maroma Beach was newer and Great but more $. Adventura Spa Palace was very good but lets kids in and we go with a group and prefer not to have other peoples kids around. Have always stayed at all-inclusive and suits us fine. Take some cash for tips. The employees are human and the service gets better with a little cash in the right hands. Usually book our own on web travels site and have always done fine. Read reviews to get an idea but always someone unhappy. At Cancun arrange your airport transportation before you get ther and avoid some hassle. good luck and have a great time.
