NC Iowa | We have seen this as well in NC Iowa. The one corn is one we've grown for a few years. This field was planted in April(19th-20th) It did get some good rains on it, but it was hybrid specific. You can see right to the row where we changed to te next variety. Looked at another field today with seed salesman and district man. Same thing happened. We dug for seeds in both hybrids that had problems. The seed was there and planting depth good, but seed put on a root system and just quit growing. The second one we looked at (today) was planted after the rain delay we had and was planted on May 15th. Didn't have any heavy rains or cool conditions after planting. I know that you can figure maybe a 90% germ so there are going to be some plants not there, but normally the seed is just lying there and has rotted, never put a root on and just quit. Mr.D | |
