8320, no offense taken. That was actually my thoughts as well. I think the thought was more about the unseen installation problems when you're sure your doing it right but something unseen was happening under ground. In our area we have mostly clay loam to silt loam soils so they are really tight so my thoughts were that they wouldn't release enough water to justify the 5" on the short runs. I think some of the reason for the 5" is because it can be used in a 6" boot and a lot of the contractors are too busy to change boots and many farmers only have one boot. (If we were getting a new plow instead of using the one we have, my thought would be to get the 4" boot instead of the 6" and use the cost savings on tile to buy an 8" boot for mains)
