Subject: Re: Spilt application N on Corn with a miller type machine - 0.8 lb N per bu

Driftless SW Wisconsin

Lone Wolf Picker - 6/2/2012 14:40 Have been sidedressing both commercial and seed corn for over 25yrs... Been able to drop total N to 120# on bean stubble and combine 200 - 240 bu. Tissue samples and Optrix sensors have helped allot on rates and timing. J

If we allow 60# of N left by the beans + your 120# total applied  = 180 units/220 bu =~ 0.8 lb N per bu.

That is in the range many folks can get to with 1/3 spring pp + 2/3 side dress split application.

Thanks for the numbers. Sounds like you are getting this thing figured out. Is your sprayer set up on 30" or 60"?
