One has to be very careful when retrofitting to a HID setup as things will heat up, potentially melt, and possibly start on fire if the fuses, wiring, etc. are not set up to handle the higher current draw of the HID. I have seen the plastic around bulbs melt on a car which was retrofitted because of a poor power supply.
