Le Mars, IA | I would go to 120 head pens. Make the gate by the feeder swing open like you had talked and then take out every other divide gate that goes from wall to alley. Then when you take first cut you can pre sort into one pen. The problem with only putting 2 pens together is that you will have trouble having enough room to presort till you have a couple of loads out of the barn. I think presorting is the way to go because you don't put the stress of sorting and loading on the hogs all at once. I like to sort a couple of days before I load to let them calm back down, and get back to eating normal again. Hope this helps. | |
