Poking my head in here just because I may have to do this someday too (errr, WILL have to). For what its worth, I broke the the bolts holding the rockshaft 'bearing' last spring, and it was surprisingly simple to jack it back up into place, and I probably wouldn't be afraid to do it again, though your mileage may vary. If you do decide to drop the whole rockshaft and lift the drill out of the way, take a picture!
