Subject: Guess I didn't get the memo !!!

German Valley, IL
We are not making a profit with the way we are farming ... I better call the auctioneer and set up our sale before we go bankrupt !!!! O wait all I have to do is sell all our forage equipment convert all the freestall barns to compost barns and set up the home farm for grazing 4 months of the year then I can go do a lousy job of putting up some crappy round bales of hay for feeding the cows the other 8 months of the year and I will make a whole lot more money with less work !?!?!?! REALLY !?!?!?
There is nothing on a dairy farm (no matter the size ) that lowers operating cost quicker than putting up the highest quality forages possible ... on a 500 cow dairy the difference between average quality feed and high quality feed can be easily $300,000 plus dollars a year difference between production loss and protein expenses alone
