Subject: Re: Hesston 8070 rotary header ?

I have cut many acres with 8070 head. I never sheared a shaft. but not many rocks here. I have hit old stand pipes and different things though. They are a real good head, they cut really well in short stuff. The weak spots that I can think of off the top of my head is that the crimper bearings seem to go out fairly regular. Not a big deal just torch old one off and reinstall new one. Also if it still has the factory rollers buy the skid plate package and install it. You will be much happier with the skid plates. I have seen the headers with over 3000hrs on them that still run good. Keep it full of good clean oil. If you have any more questions just let me know.
