SE MN & NE IA | It should fire right off when started. If you have to crank it or use either it may indicate poor compression if the engine has not been freshened. Get it warmed up good and check for engine blow by. The vent tube is right behind and below the oil dipstick. If it's a powershift it should snap quickly into every gear....no hesitations. A quad range should do the same when shifting on the go. Make sure the clutch feels firm and the tractor starts to move when the clutch is about half released. If the clutch is almost to the top of it's travel before the tractor moves, the clutch might be out of adjustment or needs replacing. It hould also shift firmly into ABCD and not rumble or buzz when you let the clutch out. Check all fluid levels. Look in the radiator for clean green fluid. No oil scum should be present. If you ever consider putting a loader on it, the powershift is the only way to go. With regular maintenence these tractors were very trouble free and reliable. | |
