Manitoba | the reason they might sell more tires is because we've used wheels for decades and some people aren't in a hurray to change or just don't see how the tracks justify the extra cost. myself, i can't see why tracks cost more to build than a wheeled unit and maybe they don't but they sell for more and thats what matters to us farmers I guess. it doesn't mean there is something terribly wrong with tracks though because they are outsold four to one versus 4wd's. we have one of each and they both have their place. we like the track on the grain cart and for any work where you have steep hills to pull up. but they aren't as good around potholes. some of our fields are hilly and drained some are a little undulating with potholes so depending on the field we decide which unit to use. I believe if you put the after market hydraulic swinging drawbar on a jd track unit you would have a good tractor. but you will struggle at times without the swinging drawbar, thats where a cat shines over the deere. jmo | |
