Buy duct tape, lots of duct tape. Believe they make a sandlbaster tape as well. Long as you roll it 3times or so and don't hold your hose over the covered area, you'll be fine.

As for blasting in the shop...id really advise not doing that unless you love cleaning. Pull it to the side of the shed and blast it in the grass, stuff goes everywhere and you'll always use more sand than you think. I think we used around 600lbs for a 15' batwing we spruced up and traded.

If you can buy silica sand cheaper, just buy a top shelf respirator or have your air supply a large distance away. Rig we used had around 300' of hose and just parked it around the shed, worked great and am yet to have any problems.

Going in small steps on the primer phase will be fine if thats what your prefer, just paint it in one batch to ensure proper color throughout the machine. Even computer mixed, they still aren't always the same shade sometimes.
