Yes, I agree with Gromit.............
Airway is first, mainly because if you don't have air, all the cardiac compressions you do won't be doing any good. I thought it was interesting that the current teaching is to smack a small child on the back to dislodge a choking item. That fell out of favor when the Heimlich technique was proved, but in the infants, smacking them on the back is recommended.

When I was a teenager, I choked while riding in the back seat of a car. My sister thought I was sick and was just getting out of the way, but a friend of ours finally realized what was going on and began whacking me on the back as best he could in the car. At the time, I figured he hadn't ever done much that was positive his whole life, but he sure saved me that day!
