Subject: Re: Are saddle tanks hard on tractors?

Central Nebraska
We have 300 gallon tanks on two of our tractors for 3-4 months out of the year and haven't seen any problems. We don't go down the road with them full and try to take it easy in the field when they're full. Try not to splash fertilizer out of the vents in the lids and you'll be fine. We put an elbow in the vent hole and attach a piece of hose to it that will run fertilizer down to the ground, that way if we do splash, we don't have fertilizer all over everything. We try to keep the tanks and tractor washed, too, because it doesn't take long for fertilizer to start affecting stuff. Just like anything else, take care of it and you'll be fine.
