EC IL | it's a 2-3 year price hedge so things can go badly as some have said. The main problem can be if it's close near your strike date you won't know if you are going to have grain priced or not until that date, so you are waiting and not pricing when you could possibly want to be. The basis argument never makes sense to me if you build a 40K bushel bin and they take in a million bushels post harvest do you think they are going to jab you in spite of the other 960,000 bushels they still want to buy? Then let the competition get the other 960K so they can punch you in the gut? | |
