Hastings, Florida
We live in a changing world . I think we all agree the libraries are nice, and certainly serve a good purpose. But our country is broken financially in some areas, and certainly on a National level. How do we pay for these non-essential services such as libraries ? I know, you say we can cut our military spending, cut social programs, lessen entitlement payments, what-ever .Everybody has ideas. But we are not doing it, so even the money spent on libraries will be looked at. Hard. Most people do not utilize them, so their budget will be cut. It has happened in my county, and I would rather have reduced services from my library system than a reduced Fire/ EMS system. I really enjoy a library, but they do not rank high on the list of "MUST HAVES" in the whole scheme of things. Before this fiscal crisis is over, we will lose way more than a nice library.
