Subject: Re: Do we really need small town libraries?

Central Nebraska
I'm 26 and have vowed never to use a Kindle or Nook until I have to. I don't like them. I would much rather hold an actual book or magazine in my hand, and I love going to used bookstores and picking up a bunch of books for little to nothing. The library in the nearest town charges out of town residents to have a library card, so I just buy books instead, but if we had a local library, I'd be in there a lot. I enjoy going to libraries to read - nobody bothers you, the wife isn't banging pots around in the kitchen, the TV isn't on, etc. But, you raise a good point, and there aren't a lot of people in my generation that read for enjoyment, at least not many that I know, so who knows what might happen to libraries in the future.
