Thompsontown, Pennsylvania | always got nervous about starting alfalfa on rented ground unless it has a multiyear lease. We are in year 3 of a 5 year lease on the home farm where we milk but have a lessee option for 5 more years, so will keep starting alfalfa but when we get to the last 2 years of the next 5, we won't...too expensive to start then lose, as you well know...on a side note, I'd be happy to have gotten the ground, and worry about how to best get it ready yourself. Never pays to hold onto this sort of stuff, just isn't worth the stress |
